From the airport:
Newcastle International Airport is around a 40 minute drive to Sunderland, you can also take the Metro directly from the airport to the Stadium of Light. This will take roughly 45 minutes.
By Bus:
Buses run frequently to the stadium, routes E2, 2, 3, 4, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 23, 24 and 56 all stop nearby. The main bus station, Park Lane Interchange, is within walking distance of the stadium.
By Train or Metro:
Sunderland is the nearest mainline station being a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium. For planning, please visit National Rail by clicking here.
The Tyne and Wear Metro stops at the Stadium of Light and St Peter's stations. After the match:
- Travelling towards South Hylton? use St Peter's station.
- Travelling towards Newcastle? use the Stadium of Light station.

By Car
Postcode: SR5 1SU (directs you to the main entrance).
Accessible from both A19 and A1 via Wessington Way (A1231).
Via the A19 (north or south):
Exit at Hylton Grange interchange onto Wessington Way (A1231).
Continue through three roundabouts, passing the Northern Spire bridge on your right.
At traffic lights, turn via Queen’s Road (A1290), then follow Keir Hardie Way (A1290) the stadium will be on your right.
Alternative (northbound):
Exit at Seaton and follow A1018 to Sunderland city centre.
Cross Monkwearmouth bridge (A1018), turn left at the second set of lights onto Millennium Way, the stadium will be on your left.
Via the A1:
Southbound: Exit at J62 onto A690, merge onto A19, then take Hylton Grange interchange to Wessington Way.
Northbound: Exit at J80 onto A19, follow until Hylton Grange interchange, then onto Wessington Way.
